Acne is still a problem for some people. Not only do they leave ugly scars, they can also be painful. That is why some people; especially adolescents suffer both emotional and physical damages brought about by acne. The pain that acne bring can become quite uncomfortable. The swelling and the scars that are left behind can lower the self confidence an individual.

If your kids or you yourself are having acne problems, try using these proven home remedies to help you solve your acne problems:

The first thing that you can do at home is to apply ice for about ten to fifteen minutes over your acne. This can be done for several purposes. The cold temperature can help decrease the inflammation and the swelling which can be useful as an early acne scar treatment to prevent further alterations in the appearance. Also, the cold has a numbing effect, which can help decrease the pain, if you are feeling any.

Another material that you can use in order to reduce the swelling and inflammation is toothpaste. It can help reduce the swelling overnight if you apply it before going to bed.

The most available remedy that you can use in order to help rid yourself of acne and prevent further break outs is simply drinking an ample amount of water every day. Eight glasses or more a day can help flush out the toxins within your body and help keep your skin moisturized. Avoid using alcohol based products which can dry your skin. Dry skin will result to increased production of sebum which is the primary cause of acne.

Also, wash your face twice a day with water and mild soap. This can help remove dust particles and bacteria on your face. Dirt and other particles can plug your pores which will then provide a breeding area for bacteria, which will result to infection and acne formation.
